Due to the really crappy, windy, cold weather, this little day party bash is moving................Just like last year, it'll be at Club Mighty. The party will still be free, now with a full bar, bathrooms, bbq, and of course, FREE bass. If anyone remembers last years Taurus bash that we were forced to move to Mighty due to rain, it was one of the most unexpectedly fun day parties of the year!!!! my DJ set from Pisces in the Park

Sunday the 16th was such a fun, epic day, I just wanted to re-live it in some small way. We didn't actually record the DJ sets, so I re-created and re-recorded my set to the best of my memory. (If we had recorded the live set, it would have featured a 2-minute gap where the power accidentally got turned off....) This mix essentially is a bunch of (mostly) brand new techfunk & breaks slammers that I knew Strawberry would like. She did, as it turned out.

Full disclosure... this isn't the exact tracklist from the party. I didn't use some of the same tracks because I already used them in recorded mixes past. I just couldn't bring myself to repeat tracks, when there are so many perfectly good ones always coming out, that I hadn't used yet. (yes I know, I am psycho)

I want to thank the whole bright and beautiful pronoia family that came out to have a great time and support a whomping DJ lineup, and fill an amazing unique space with your love, your attitude and most importantly, your dancefloor selves.

Massive shoutout to Dex Stakker for helping me schlep all of our heavy ass speakers up and down stairs with his signature and infectious positive attitude.

I personally had one of the most epic nights of my life at Bass:Libration this year, and it was pure pleasure to see so many smiling faces dancing their asses off right up and until closing at 5 f'ing thirty in the AM on saturday.

You can rest assured that we'll be doing it again!

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Recordings/Record Records) - Budapest

Even though the name Fine Cut Bodies implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters is only one man, Kevin aka Attila Fodor. His musical tastes are extremely broad which is reflected in the musical preferences of *Chi Recordings*, the label he co-founded in 2000. One of the most important taste-maker DJs in Hungary, he has been one of the key DJs/promoters that built up the huge breaks scene in Hungary and he is now starting to build up the world class underground minimal and tech-house scene in Budapest.

As a DJ, Kevin's taste is determined more by his musical attitude than by any specific genre: he looks for music that's experimental but not selfish, interesting but not unlistenable. As a producer, he has released tracks in many genres and is always looking for new sonic adventures. Kevin's tracks have been licensed for numerous compilations and he has collaborated with and remixed for some of the hottest names in electronic music.

I've been on a bit of an electro breaks kick lately (well, the last few years hehe) and this is the inevitable musical meltdown, with a few other sub-genres thrown in for good measure. Bottom line, though, is I'm very happy with this set. Definitely something you can dance to, and carries a certain energy throughout. It's a departure for me... just trying to diversify, y'know... it's very mellow, given the sound I usually put out there...

a friend of mine received the book, _pronoia_, and i flipped through and decided i'd like to read it. so i and another friend are going to dive in and approach it "workbook" style. anyone else read it and want to weigh in? anyone interested in forming a bit of a discussion group around the book?

I'd like to take an informal survey of people, hope you all can help me out. The Pronoia crew has an opportunity to book a venue for the date of December 30-- one night before NYE.

At first it seems like not the best date, but consider: It's a Saturday night, and it seems like many of those who go to Pronoia events are planning to go to Breakfast of Champions on Jan 1 and skip NYE parties Sunday night.

The event would be at a club in SF, and we'd go from 10pm til 3 or 4am.

Pronoia - the Mix

In the process of going through older vinyl to see what i might be able to part with, I re-discovered some gems and it occurred to me how well the old gems would mesh with some "new" old gems recently acquired. So I decided to turn the housecleaning into a legacy project instead.

So, ready to get down like it's 2003? The first mix in what I hope will become a series, is titled Pronoia... it just seemed to make sense.....the start of something positive, retroactively forward-looking? Or something.

It's mostly breaks, with a little bit of housey-ness thrown in, 76-minute, 70MB MP3:

like oh my god...i'm going to my 20th high school reunion in two weeks and I was asked to bring some music. I'd like to spice things up...so I'm looking for 80's remixes.
